Dear Maje

Hotel Sogo unlocks the new normal

Hi Dear,

This is the last day of ECQ or Enhance Community Quarantine (as of writing this) how are you feeling? I hope you are doing fine, I'd been doing a lot of videos, binge watching some Korean Dramas, reading books lately, aside from doing my work at home I rarely went outside because it's scorching hot and I don't have QPass (hahaha)  I guess these were my new normal.

Speaking of new normal, the last time we've talked about Hotel Sogo was when they are being not just so clean, so good but also so generous by providing shelters for our frontliners (let's give them around of applause to that!) but aside form that they are now leaping to the new normal as part of their So clean, So Good, So Safe campaign under the Sogo Safe Program that aims to secure the safety of its employees and guests.

Now let's talk about that.

Hotel Sogo launches the features of their new normal

For Hotel here are their innovative ways to fight Covid 19.

  • Uniforms of hotel staff are redesigned to incorporate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

  • Temperature screening and disinfection mats upon entering the hotel.

  • Social distancing in front desk.

  • Installation of protective acrylic glass panel in front desk.

  • Social distancing with markers and limit of persons in elevators.
  • Hand Sanitizers in common areas.
  • Contactless hotel features (doors and elevators).

  • UVC light treatment is also modified in elevator consoles,  door handles, keycard cases, cash register and food preparation.

Good job to this one because for those of you who don't know studies show that the use of UVC, with wavelengths between 200 and 270 nanometre (nm), can kill microbes, germs, bacteria and viruses. This has been adopted since use of UVC is done in recent years and is also used in disinfecting hospitals as UVC kills pathogens and microorganisms.  In addition, I've seen a lot of videos about how will you know that your Hotel room is clean (I know it may sound weird but nope I'm not OC I'm just curious) and one of it was to place it under UV Light because you can detect all the germs when it was place under UV Light and I'm glad that Hotel Sogo did this because you can sleep peacefully knowing that your room was germ free.

  • Constant disinfection in all amenities is also implemented.

  • No-contact facilities from lobby doors to toilet fixtures thru installing foot door opener and foot-controlled dispenser.

  •  Hotel Sogo Mobile app is also up for contact tracing.

  • Hotel Sogo has created newly designed giveaways for the guests such as no contact keys and sanitizers. No-contact key serves as a tool in touching common objects like door handles, elevator buttons, and ATMs.

As for Corporate Office:

The said hotel implemented the followings:

  • Temperature checks upon entering the office.
  • Hand sanitizers in common areas.
  • Limit to number of people using the elevator.
  • Social distancing in workplace and in crowded areas like canteen.
  • Provision of multivitamins to employees.

In difficult times like this all we need to do is to pray and help one another, in line with this Hotel Sogo has recently allocated 857 free rooms to our healthcare workers, which cost about Php 60 million in coordination with 11 hospital directors and various City Mayors.

Upholding the "So clean, So good" tagline the management remains vigilant in improving its cleaning and sanitation protocols for the safety of the staff and frontliners as well. The hotels placed hand sanitizers at all access points and social distancing is also implemented. The said hotel will make sure that our dear frontliners will experience a clean and healthy facilities along with excellent hotel services.

"We don't want our health workers to just sleep in the hospital corridors after long shifts, as they have nowhere else to go. We want them to have a safe and nice place to stay, that's why we offering our hotels for them. Frontliners have shown selfless commitment and risk their lives everyday, they deserve more than this."  said Ms. Sue Geminiano, Hotel Sogo, Marketing Manager.

Who would have thought that despite of the taboo connotation of its name, they have a heart to reach out and help our brave frontliners. Salute SoGo.

Susubukan ko muling magsulat,
ang malunod sa mga salitang
minsa'y naging daan upang
panandaliang makalimot

Muling mangangarap.

Muling susubok.

An Australian drinking yogurt brand is now open here in the Philippines. KOOMI NATURAL DRINKING YOGURT serves healthy yogurt drink, perfect to replace your sinful milktea and frappe.

Koomi Philippines invited us to try their products yesterday at 5th floor The Podium.

THE MENU
So here is the menu, all of these drinks are very natural even the sinkers are also healthy. For as low as 120 php. you can have a healthy-yummy-drink.

Photo Credit to: Fried and Prejudice

Aside from choosing what flavor of drink you want to try you can also customize it.
  • For Aussie blend - You'll have a strong yogurt base (I recommend this one)
  • For Filipino blend - It's more of a creamy and milder yogurt base.

They also use honey as a natural sweetener.

Now, let's talk about the taste.

On my left hand I was holding the KOOMI signature: Stick-On-Me Purple Rice. This in particular drink reminds me of a Mango sticky rice from Thailand. Or if I will put it into our Filipino tastebuds it's like a rice cake (kakanin) soak in milk. This drink will make you feel full easily because of the purple rice as a sinker.

If you are craving for a healthier brown sugar-ish drink BOOPIN' BOBA is for you. This drink is compose of concentrated yogurt, the trendy brown sugar syrup and ofcourse boba as sinker.

WHY NOT COCONUT is another distinctive flavor from the brand. It has a combination of yogurt, activated charcoal (which is btw, good for digestion) and coconut.

WATERBERRY WONDER this one is more on tropical drink, it has watermelon, chucks of strawberries and yogurt.

For the ambiance, the color combination pink and violet is cute, plus the neon light perfect for your #Drinkfie but the space is decent enough to accommodate buying customers.

A lot of customers were line up to buy their KOOMI DRINKS.

Overall, I will recommend this drink specially if you are looking into your diet and you want to lessen your consumption of MILKTEAS. On the other hand, you may finish this whole cup without feeling guilty #GuiltnessGoodness as what they've said.

KOOMI, THE PODIUM MALL
Location: 5F The Podium Mall, ADB Avenue, Ortigas, Mandaluyong City

Holiday is in the air and this is usually the time where we catch up with our dear family, colleagues and friends. Being an adult is sometimes exhausting so if we have time to recuperate our soul might as well belly up to our favorite people.

Since most of my friends are working it's really hard to gather them in one place and in one sitting, so here are my techniques on how I normally gather my barkada to a "barkada night".

TIP NO. 1 CALL A FRIEND

Call your friends one by one and make an advance notice. Yup you read it right, advance notice because maybe they have plans for that day, I usually ask them if they are free on that day or not.

TIP NO. 2 THE RESTAURANT

Since we are all adults we need a place to hangout and when I say hangout it means good food and cocktails is on our list, luckily I discovered this place called TKB by Tanduay in Ayala Ave., Makati City.

TKB stands for The Kushi Bar, and it specializes in kushi (skewered) selections created by Japanese chef Yuri Amami, the first female Japanese chef in the Philippines. Here, you’ll also find the TKB shots, deliciously-flavored cocktails infused with Tan-duay Dark and Premium White Rum.

What's cool with this restaurant is that diners can enjoy their cocktails along with their kushi selections, which now have items using ingredients that are popular with Filipino diners. So, don’t be surprised to find the Gyubara (beef tenderloin) along with the Reba (chicken liver) or the Hotate (scallop) along with the Hatsu (chicken heart) on the menu. All reasonably priced, these kushi selections are meant to be enjoyed plate after plate, just like how Filipinos dine.

TIP NO. 3 THE DATE

Set a date. Christmas season is perfect for a get-together since everybody is in Christmas spirit and Christmas Break I normally choose for a Saturday Night. Also, I heard that for the entire month of December, TKB by Tanduay offers a free flight (four shots) for diners of five. It's a win-win situation right?

The TKB shots selection includes the Aomori (apple wasabi), Tokushima (ginger cala-mansi), Kumamoto (watermelon basil), Miyazaki (cucumber basil), Nagano (lemon apricot), Ehime (green apple and kiwi), and their newly-introduced rambutan rum-infused shot.

TIP NO. 4 USE THE MAGIC WORD

This is the highly effective, the game changer (ika nga) are you ready? tell them "libre kita" (I'll pay for you). Nobody will resist on that one hahaha

And yeah, hope you find this article helpful ahahaha ohh if you plan to visit TKB by Tanduay don't forget to take a #Groupie using the Hashtags #TKBByTanduaySocial #Tanduay #TanduayNumber1Rhum

Talk to you next year!

It's that time of the year again where we celebrate another festive season, while others go the beach to celebrate holidays here I'm celebrating it in Kawit, Cavite. Kawit in Cavite is not new place to me (I thought) since elementary, Aguinaldo shrine is always one of our itinerary during our field trip. But there is so much more places in Kawit that we need to discover not just the Aguinaldo shrine. So buckle up your seatbelt as I take you to some of the most sought-after historical places in Kawit.

Our first stop: MUSEO NI BALDOMERO AGUINALDO

Baldomero Aguinaldo is the one of Emilio Aguinaldo's trusted people / cousin who is also a revolutionary leader. Aguinaldo organized, along with his cousin Emilio, the Magdalo chapter of the Katipunan in Kawit. He became president of the council. In the early days of hostilities, he always stayed at the side of his cousin Emilio. He fought in several bloody battles. He also led the Magdalo faction to the Katipunan which had its headquarters in Kawit, Cavite. His grandfather is Cesar Virata, former prime minister during 1980s.

Next Stop: EMILIO AGUINALDO SHRINE

As we all know this is where the Philippine flag that we know of today was first waved publicly announcing our Independence by none other than the first Filipino President Emilio Aguinaldo.

Kawit also boasts rich crafts and delicacies including the Pandayan or the local blacksmithing shop.

Third stop: PANDAYAN

We went to their local Pandayan (blacksmith), it is still active and you can still buy handcrafted knives and bolos made the same way during the Revolutionary era. Blacksmithing is an endangered craft that needs to be promoted and preserved.

Fourth stop: BISUGO EATERY PUTO BUNGBONG

What is Christmas if we won't be eating Christmas Food di ba? Charls (fun fact actually: this is the first time that I will try this puti bungbong hahaha) so we went to Bisugo Eatery to experience that here. In just P30 you got yourself a puto bungbong or rice cake with shaved coconut and muscovado sugar also you need to pair it with their local tea. And in all fairness the sweetness of puto bungbong blends well with the tea (tanggal umay ika nga).

Last Stop: THE CHRISTMAS LIGHTING EVENT AT AGUINALDO SHRINE AND FREEDOM PARK

The Christmas lighting event was held last December 14, 2019 and a number of distinguished guests and celebrities joined in celebration of the event. A fireworks display and lighting of the Christmas lights at the Freedom park was also held.

Make sure to visit Kawit Cavite this Christmas Season and enjoy the season filled with pride of our own heritage and historical sites in Kawit. The Municipality of Kawit welcomes everyone who wishes to visit Kawit during the Christmas season.

BTW, I do have a vlog of this so you can check that out, link at the top of this post.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in XentroMall Antipolo as it opens their intricate Christmas designs,  magical display of lights and sounds to the public. On its second year, XentroMall Antipolo promises to be brighter and even merrier!

For XentroMall Antipolo and its founders, Alexander and Adelaida Cruz, family is the main inspiration for this year's Christmas lights design. In fact, the whole idea turning the said mall into a fun-filled family Christmas experience originated from their family’s famous Cainta Christmas House.

“We intend to give everyone a reason to smile and feel the spirit of Christmas without spending too much because Xentro Christmas Mall is free for everyone. We hope to bring families together, to come up with a place where they could have fun and create unforgettable memories with their family that would last a lifetime,” said Alex Cruz.

In 2018, XentroMall Antipolo opened its doors and welcomed swaths of families into a magical Christmas village. Complete with elaborately designed village ornaments, train sets, merry-go-rounds, and carousels.

“As we opened XentroMall Antipolo, we wanted to spread the festive cheer to even more people and this inspired us to create a Christmas-themed mall, where families can bond, celebrate, and create lasting memories together.” According to Cruz.

The christmas lights display is now open at the XentroMall in Antipolo, Rizal and will be on display until end of January 2020.

Follow @XentroMallAntipolo on Facebook for more updates.
